Bio
Pamela Cates-Smith, MD, FACOG, joined Orlando Health Physician Associates in 2009. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Cates-Smith provides comprehensive healthcare for women throughout all stages of life.
Dr. Cates-Smith earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, and completed her residency at Orlando Health.
Dr. Cates-Smith has a special interest in adolescent obstetrics, and specializes in minimally invasive surgery. In addition to her work with Orlando Health Physician Associates, Dr. Cates-Smith also teaches in the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies residency program.
Dr. Cates-Smith was awarded the Patient’s Choice Award from 2010 to 2013. She was voted “Most Compassionate Doctor” in 2012. Dr. Cates-Smith was also named “Woman of Year” in 2013 by the National Association of Professional Women. She is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Florida Medical Association and American Medical Association. Dr. Cates-Smith also serves on the True Life Choice (TLC) Women’s Center Advisory Board.

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
