Assessment, advocacy and treatment all in one location.
The Orange County Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) is a place where professionals, such as police officers, DCF workers, school officials, and doctors, jointly investigate and protect victims of our community’s worst child abuse cases. The CAC includes the Child Protection Team (CPT) and the Healing Tree, also known as the Sexual Trauma Recovery Center.
The program's main goals are to prevent the re-victimization of children, to ensure abused children can get mental health counseling to heal, and to effectively prosecute perpetrators of child abuse. We have served cases involving
- Child sexual abuse
- Child deaths
- Shaken babies
- Burns
- Broken bones
 | A team ready to help The Child Protection Team (CPT) is comprised of social workers, medical providers, and psychologists who provide diagnostic and assessment services, such as: - Forensic interviews
- Medical exams
- Multi-disciplinary case staffings
- 24/7 on-call consultations to DCF and law enforcement
Through interviews and examinations of the children, the team provides expert opinions regarding abuse and neglect and helps make recommendations about child safety and what services the family may need.
