Atrial Fibrillation Program
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is the most common heart arrhythmia, affecting nearly 3 million Americans. It occurs when the heart's two upper chambers contract fast and irregularly. Because AFib can lead to a possible stroke or heart attack, it’s critical to diagnose and treat any signs of it immediately.
Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute’s Atrial Fibrillation Program is equipped with the most innovative technology and advanced methods. We are the only program in Central Florida to have full accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for its Atrial Fibrillation Program. We’ve also been named a Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for exceptional heart and vascular care.

Advanced Care for AFib
Generally, the goals for treating AFib are to prevent blood clots, decrease the risk of stroke, control heart rate and reset or manage the heart’s rhythm. This can be accomplished with medications called anti-arrhythmics and/or through a procedure. You and your doctor will choose a treatment depending on other problems with your heart and if you’re able to take medications.
We offer a variety of leading-edge treatment options for safe, effective heart care, including minimally invasive procedures that use cold energy, radiofrequency, hybrid-maze ablation and the Watchman® implant to treat AFib. Our procedures limit radiation through other technology, such as 3D cardiovascular ultrasound mapping, which provides surgeons with imaging guidance during procedures.
